If there’s one thing in life that we ALL want, it’s to stay young forever. Who wants to get old and slowly deteriorate until our eventual demise? No one does, but sadly it’s a part of life, there’s nothing we can do about it, but what we can do is change the way we look and approach various aspects in our lives.

How so?

Well, depending on where you are from and how you were raised, were sort of set to think in a certain manner about ageing and what you should and shouldn’t do.  Almost like some unwritten rules for aging, the what’s expected guideline for line. The problem Is that these so called unwritten rules can be a sham in most cases. Like I said it depends on where you’re from and how you were raised, not everyone is going to follow the same set of rules.

THE BIG PROBLEM lies in the fact that most people think that when you get older you have to gradually change things around. What I mean by this is that you have to become super serious in everything that you do. You don’t joke around or have any kind of fun, when you do have fun it’s by doing what everyone else your age is doing even though you may not enjoy it.

You have dress and act a certain way, you have to give up things you enjoyed doing when you were younger. You have to become a robot in many ways, and the problem is that most people get depressed and end up falling apart physically and mentally. We end up getting engulfed with tons of responsibilities and end up getting thrown on a rat wheel spinning fast, but not going anywhere at all.

What happens is that we get OLDER much quicker than we really should be. We tend to age mentally much quicker than our bodies do and end up falling apart all together. Life becomes one big tasks until it’s all over, then who know what happens next.

The real question is this….. Does it HAVE TO BE THIS WAY?

NOPE!

How so?

Well, here are 5 ways that you can feel and get younger again mentally and physically!

1. EXERCISE

It’s not rocket science at all, and most of you if not all of you knew this was going to be on the list. Exercising can make us feel better mentally and physically. You don’t have to be in the gym for hours on end, all you have to do is simply come up with a small workout routine that’s fun and refreshing. It can be something like going to a park to walk a trail you like on a regular basis. This can also be your alone time to recuperate from the daily madness we all go through.

Just 10-15 minutes a day or every other day is a good way to start getting back into shape. Gradually build and grow from it. Don’t take on everything all at one time because you won’t stick to it. Don’t get caught counting calories or going for a fad diet, do things that you enjoy. Take your time and practice utilizing PATIENCE!

2. QUIT SMOKING

Now I know not everyone smokes, but if you do smoke, plan on STOPPING ASAP! We all know the harm smoking does to us and others around it, I don’t have to give you the surgeon general’s warning and give you a long speech on it. Everyone knows that when you quit smoking you start to feel and look better. The same can be said for drinking or any other destructive habit, if you have a bad habit, get away from it.

Seek help if you don’t know how to do it, once again it’s about taking your time, don’t just jump into things, they won’t last if you just do it, take your time and be patient with it, in due time good things will come.

3. Help Others

Helping others not only keeps your mind active and gives you new things to do, but it also makes you feel happy after doing something constructive. Being happy is great way to keep feeling young, and by helping others you’re giving yourself a sense of purpose, a sense of doing something right. This will only motivate you to keep helping, and everyone knows the world could use a few more people helping out in a positive manner.

4. Family Time

Spend more time with your family, take time off your busy schedule or even schedule in family time every few days if you can. Life happens and moves so quick and before you know everyone around you will grow old and die as we will too. So take some time to appreciate the things that matter most, jobs don’t matter at all, they matter in the sense for our sense of living, but in reality they don’t matter when you really look at it all.

5. Work On Yourself

This can tie into fitness and working out, but what I mean here is by doing things you never did before. Go back and correct flaws that you may have, ask your closest friends and family on what you can work on. Don’t get mad when they tell you the truth, just listen and work on it. This will help you to grow into a new and better person, therefore helping you to open your mind more and feel younger and more appreciative of the people and things around you.

At the end of the day it’s all about you, how you look at things, and how you take things in. These are just some tips to help spark a new you in 2015 and beyond. The saying “you’re as old as you feel” is 1000 percent the truth. If you feel old you’re going to act old, and vice versa. So keep your head up and smile from time to time, remember even the darkest hour only lasts 60 minutes!
